Monuments Matter to People

Date posted: 18/12/20

This exciting and unique project offers residents of Torpoint, Saltash, and Liskeard the opportunity to join a free educational programme at Maker Heights, Rame.

What to expect:

‘Monuments Matter’ is a tailor-made course designed for people who haven’t previously had the chance to become involved in learning. The Project aims to create a positive social atmosphere where participants can improve their education, alongside their health and wellbeing.

It includes half-day English, Maths, and IT courses, with the option to undertake a qualification. The remaining half-day includes a mix of conservation training with the Cornwall Archaeological Unit (carrying out clearance work on Scheduled Monuments), guided walks, and Samaritans-led mental health and wellbeing workshops.

In order to remove any barriers to participation, travel and childcare costs will be covered and lunch will also be provided.

You will be contributing to the vital task of protecting and maintaining the Scheduled Monuments of Maker Heights. It’s hoped that you will become more involved with your local environment and heritage, whilst improving your wellbeing and increasing your education.
