Helping to Bring the School of Hard Knocks to Cornwall

We are delighted that we were recently able to  help to secure ESF funding, with matched funding from Cornwall Council, for a rugby-based employability programme in Penzance, with the Cornish Pirates and the Sports Cornwall Foundation.

The grant has enabled a ‘School of Hard Knocks’ (SOHK) project in the area, with the Pirates assisting with delivery and facilities.

Nikki Kelly, Chair of Sport Cornwall Foundation explains “The School of Hard Knocks is a recognised national programme combining lessons on the pitch and employability skills to people into further training or employment. Thanks to funding from Community Led Local Development we are delighted to work with Cornish Pirates to provide opportunities for the local community.”

SOHK is widely recognised as a television programme that was presented by former British Lions rugby players Will Greenwood and Scott Quinnell.

The  project will be an exciting and innovative way to build both physical and mental confidence for those who are out of work.
